I'm running a 1050 Holley dominator and I jetted down from 92 jets to 88 squared. My car picked up 3mph and .02 in 60ft and .05 overall. So I know I went the right direction. But now I have a hesitation coming off the line sometimes, and its just not as responsive as it was with the 92 jets. How could jetting down help in every other aspect. BTW, 468 bbc; 4.88 gear; 5000 stall; 3400lb car, .680 roller, steal Merlin heads-sq. port.

I would say your new aquired problem is a lean situation...at idle it helps to be a little rich for engine response. I would screw in your idle jets a 1/2 turn at a time to see if that helps. This adjustment is minimum. So my next question would be what size quirters are you running. Going bigger here should help your problem. I Think 88 jets are fine at our altitude, I've even seen 86 squared work on a 1050 dominator here.

Is the hesitation there when you hit the throttle wide open or when the car launches.? If its at the hit of the throttle Parker is right, but if it's at the launch of the car, your floats could be set too low or you have fuel dumping out of the vents on top or if you have jet extensions on the rear, the extensions could cause the float to get hung up.

I have 31 squirters. And yes its when I launch the car. I turned the idle screws in 1 turn and its better but still there. Do I need to go back to the 92 jets?

No, in my opinion, you need to put .040 squirters in now. I run 45s on racing fuel and 55s on alcohol. I would also check what onedragracer said, the fuel levels and such. I still think you have a lean problem. That doesn't mean your lean after it gets off the line though.

I couldnt find any 40s, but did find 2 42s. Its sounds like a different car. I'll have to see at the track but in the driveway it snaps. Thanks guys, just seems wierd to take fuel away and then add it back, just in a different way. I still don't understand why it fixed it, but as long as it works I'm happy.
